IOC - International Olympic Committee

To their credit the Cardinals from Hayes brought their A game and the came after us since we were the defending champs. One fact that is true about our team is that competition brings out the best in us.

We had a hard fought battle to win the Sectional and City title. For the city title, the Stanners from Molloy showed that they were ready to race and once again Fordham was in the Hunt. Our Day started off with 2 victories, Giancarlo Cipri ran a tactical race to take the Sectional and City meter title.

He was able to run negative splits running the last in 62 seconds.

Next up was the 4x of Woody, Oettl, Colter and Kiarie-Mumbi, Hayes was in the lead till the last leg when Kiarie dropped the hammer and pulled away for the win. In the Tiong Smith grabbed 3rd place, while Matt Baker soared to a school and Meet record of 46'6" in the triple jump.

The meters saw two sophomores step up and score as Gywn-Rowsom and MacDonnell were able to get 4th and 5th in the section. Their effort was lead by Dom Ronan who ran two great races taking 3rd in both the and meters. By this time we were ahead of Hayes with 5 events to go in the sectionals.

The meters became a huge race for us as Ryan Woody ran a perfect race to grab the title. Meanwhile Soph Val Ferraro showed that he is truly a varsity athlete as he ran a gutsy race to grab 5th place and a huge point that we needed to stay ahead of Hayes. We were tied with Archibishop Molloy at 23 with Fordham close behind at Over the next two events, All three teams would pull even with 29 points in the City battle.

This is where the never say die attidtude of the Knights came into play. We were able to score big points in the Relay thanks to two sophs and two seniors. Kiarie then went out and on tired legs ran a tough to put us ahead. The Last event of the meet was the City 4x meter relay final.
