Because of the format, it isn’t the best book to keep under the bar, but it’s perfect for your nightstand. So I get out the lemon juice and simple syrup and add a few dashes xraft Angostura bitters. I was never thrilled with the mint julep and thought it was boring.

At first I gave this 4 stars, because I didn’t crsft care for the more or less alphabetical organization of the recipes, but in going over the book carefully, I found it chock-full of all the information anyone would need to become a skilled bartender, plus a lot of interesting historical information.
Covering the entire breadth of this rich subject, The Craft of the Cocktail provides much more than merely the same old recipes: I even received an award, a gold medal on a maroon ribbon from the Peruvian president, because they said the Rainbow Room served more pisco than anywhere else in the country.
Today, DeGroff keeps busy training future barkeeps through the Beverage Alcohol Resource program, promoting his herbaceous Pimento Aromatic Bitters, consulting for brands, bringing his one-man storytelling and song hybrid On the Town!
