The accompanying photographs—remarkable in themselves for surviving a journey in an open lifeboat and months buried in snow—help bring the story to life. In the end, this is more than just an adventure alecander, it is a paean to the human spirit. There is something about the black and white photos taken in this mysterious light that make each pic a gem.
If this was made into a movie at least five of them would die because “drama” or whatever. Shackleton was an incredible leader, evidenced by the fact that he didn’t lose a single member of the expedition. Alexander’s The Bounty which I also loved. So obviously a story that’s certainly worth telling but has already been well told. This is one of these stories when reality is more unbelievable than fiction!
They reported they were heartily weary of slaughtering animals–their only companions on the icy wilderness. bielo

The personal anecdotes taken from the crew’s diaries bring all the characters, and I do I would heartily recommend this book to anyone alexandee enjoys true-life adventure and suspense. The fact that they made that open water journey in a life-boat over miles in the dead of winter is just ONE of the crazy and I mean NUTS things that they managed to do. A new obsession of mine is locating an archive print of Hurley’s work. Read while enjoying a warm beverage.
He did not accomplish what he set out to do. The only nitpicky comment I can make on atgapados book is that it could have benefited from one or two more maps, aside from the single Antarctica map up front that squeezes the entire adventure onto one page.
