Do you think Vanille & Fang are a couple? :: FINAL FANTASY XIII General Discussions
Oerba Yun Fang and Oerba Dia Vanille are both playable characters in Final In Final Fantasy XIII, what is Fang and Vanille's relationship. I never even heard of people needing them to be lesbian lovers until Gaf .. Fang's and Vanille's relationship is the only thing in the entire story. The characters of Fang and Vanille are based on the Ragnorok myth of Lif Their relationship is definitely not one of big sister, little sister.
I guess I shouldn't have gotten so hyped up before I played myself, but it's a bummer for me. Not the end of the world but I wanted to see something like this included in a serious manner in a FF.

And I know I can ship them anyway regardless of whether they're canon, but Fang treats Vanille like she's a little baby and Vanille totally acts like one. Nevermind sister, Fang acts like Vanille's mom a lot of the time. It just turns me off.
It could win me over if Vanille would mature a little bit in her personality, but I just wanted more from it! Sorry, didn't mean to go on, but I just wanted to complain a bit I already did enough to my friends I don't wanna annoy them anymore.
There's just that one scene where Fang and Vanille first reunite and they cry and hug and Fang looks under her skirt to check her brand.

The gaming community sees this is as a lesbian thing because it's dominated by hetero guys who like to ship female-female relationships.
I couldn't do it" - Vanille User Info: We are very close we weren't when we were younger, but when I turned twelve my parents started homeschooling us and we started spending all our time together.
I won't go into too much detail, but a few years ago she got sick and almost died she had to have a blood transfusionand that just brought us even closer and really activated my maternal instincts. It made me appreciate her even more and since then I always worry about her and make sure she takes care of herself so that she doesn't get sick again. Maybe this makes me sound like a loser, but in real life she's my only friend, and the only member of my family I really get along with.

We live together, and since neither of us want to get married, we probably always will. My own relationship with my sister affects the way I see this, same as you. I guess the degree of affection characters can express for each other without it having to have romantic connotations is different for me than other people because of how close we are. I mean, I would look at my little sister's leg without a second thought if my sis had a mark that was the only indicator of how long she had left before turning into a monster.
It's her leg, not her genitals. Since I haven't played the whole series yet I will keep an open mind, but a lot would have to change with the way their relationship is presented to convince me, especially since they've already said their relationship is sisterly.
Ladysoalluring Ladysoalluring 4 years ago 5 I am sorry to hear about your sister, I hope things life as it is stays stable for you two, and doesn't get that bad again. Official "Vanille" of the Dissidia Duodecim boards "To hate, to hurt, to destroy She's fine now, and she should stay that way as long as she doesn't neglect herself. I wonder if SE had kept Fang a man if they would have described his relationship with Vanille as "brother and sister".
If the game was exactly the same but just with Fang as a man and they called them "just like brother and sister", I would have thought that SE was telling me their relationship was platonic, not romantic, just like I do with our final versions.
Final Fantasy likes to draw on different mythologies, but they take bits and pieces. It's like Kain Highwind; he represents the biblical figure Cain and Cecil is his Abel, but not every aspect of their story matches Cain and Abel's.
I'm tempted to go and spoil it since I probably won't get to play the last game for a while and it's fun to talk about, buuuuut I'll wait.
Would you mind linking me to where they said the nature of Fang and Vanille's relationship was left open to interpretation? I don't doubt you, but I always ask for links. Iightningz Iightningz 4 years ago 7 I really don't think it's technically "confirmed" canon. I wouldn't say they are that. They take her outside and watch over her until she regains consciousness and leaves. Fang thinks their Focus has something to do with attacking Cocoon and two days later, using stolen ID cards, they board a train to Euride Gorge to see its fal'Cie, Kujata.
Fang proposes she and Vanille attack it to restore their memories but before they can make their move, Sazh Katzroy 's son, Dajhhappens upon them. Realizing the depth of the situation, the two flee before Sazh finds them.

Fang fights off their pursuers and returns to the town of Bodhumbut is captured by the Cavalry the next day. When Rygdea returns from Bodhum empty-handed the following day, Fang is not surprised he did not find her. Fang asks Lebreau about Vanille. In the four days since the Euride Gorge incident, Fang stays on the Lindblum to avoid capture, but worries she is wasting Vanille's time by not resuming her search. Two days later, Fang revisits the Vestige while still in contact with the Cavalry and unknown to her, just misses Vanille.
Knowing Vanille will be herded onto a Purge train, Fang has Raines and Rygdea help her rescue Vanille in exchange for the promise she and Vanille will help them take down the Sanctum, the fal'Cie-guided government of Cocoon.
Two days later, after the last Purge train leaves Bodhum, the Lindblum lands on the surface of Lake Bresha and Fang rides in an airship with Rygdea to the Purge train's destination, the Hanging Edge. Edit I've got a few screws loose, but I'm a l'Cie, same as you. I wasn't born on Cocoon. I'm from Gran Pulse. The 'world below' you all hate so much. My partner and I'd turned to crystal there and gone to sleep.
But when we came around, here we were. The reason Cocoon's in an uproar is the same reason you're here now.
Vanille and I woke up. Aboard the Lindblum Raines tells Snow of the Sanctum's plan to publicly execute the l'Cie once they are captured, and leaves Snow no choice but to help him find the others. Fang explains to Snow she is hunting down the l'Cie herself, but does not divulge her connection to Vanille.
Fang and Lightning discuss their fate. They split up as Snow leaves with Hope and Fang with Lightning, keeping in contact with wireless communicators. After deciding on Hope's home in Felix Heights as their rendezvous point, Fang reveals her origins to Lightning and that she and Vanille were indirectly responsible for Lightning's sister Serah being made a l'Cie, as Anima sought for new l'Cie after seeing Fang and Vanille were not heeding their Focus.
Fang and Lightning realize Pulse and Cocoon are more similar than they had initially thought in how both worlds feared and hated the other, but Fang is willing to be an enemy of Cocoon if it will save Vanille.
Fang explains how a l'Cie's brand shows the time they have until they transform into Cie'th, and how strong emotions can expedite the process.
Fang reassures Lightning that Serah will come out of crystal stasis one day. They go into hiding in Hope's home and take refuge with his father, Bartholomew Estheim. The party is led onto the Lindblum where they learn Vanille and Sazh were captured in Nautilus and are being held captive aboard the Palamecia to be brought to Eden for a public execution.
Fang is reunited with Vanille.
With the Cavalry's help, the group infiltrates the Sanctum airship to rescue the prisoners and Fang and Vanille are reunited. Fang checks the progression of Vanille's brand and is relieved she still has time left.
